The Vodafone Hungary Foundation launched the Digital Award for the first time in 2018 to find projects that provide practical help in our everyday lives by supporting digitalization. The innovation competition was held for the fourth time in 2022, with 118 applications received, of which ten projects were awarded for their digital and social excellence.
With the Vodafone Digital Award, our primary goal was to extend the Volteum solution with a feature that helps the operation of vehicles based on live data. The new feature enables Volteum to track the change in the vehicles' energy consumption and state of charge (SoC) on the route. Our top-notch algorithms compare the real-time data to the pre-planned route for each car which the driver and the operator can both follow. If necessary, the solution can notify or replan the current route if the vehicle cannot make it according to the recent energy consumption.
Live data about the car's state can be obtained from electric vehicles with the help of onboard diagnostic devices. Volteum's systems can receive and process this data, and then, after combining it with outside parameters like weather, elevation, and mapping, we provide precise estimations of future energy needs. We model the 'behavior' of the vehicles and the environment around them meter by meter and calculate how the SoC (state of charge), energy consumption, and regeneration are changing along the way.
The Vodafone Digital Award was a fantastic opportunity to showcase our efforts and share our success with a broader audience, and we're grateful for the recognition.
We want to thank the Vodafone Digital Award for the honor and for providing us with this platform to share our project. We'd also like to thank our team for their hard work and dedication in making this project a success. We're excited to continue our journey toward a more sustainable future and can't wait to see what we can achieve in the coming years.
